Default Shipping from Ireland (south) to Auk

All happening very quick - - - Moving over end of Jan, so need to find a shipper. Can anyone give me idea of Cost please? We wont be bringing that much (if my hubby has owt to do with it!) and we really need a new telly - is it worth buying one to bring over - or not much difference to buy one over there? gosh only two months, so much to do so little time

Do they just leave the continer with you and you pack it at your convenience? just we both work - and will need to up till we go....

anyone moved from Ireland? and any idea of cost would be a big help, thank you folks - -This forum is a godsend!!!

I think most of the people on here have moved from the UK so the cost will probably be different but someone might come up with some answers for you.

Buy a telly to bring or buy one here? well lots to consider - if you aren't shipping that much it will add quite a bit costwise to the shipping. Also - any built in freeview tuner won't work here. You can buy a set top box to make it work obviously - but not the same IMO.

What's your idea of not bringing that much? Do you have a house full of furniture and effects? It would be worth contacting the shipping companies and getting them to come quote. Then work out what it would cost you to replace it all if you don't ship it. it adds up - things don't come cheap here.

Most people recommend bringing as much as you can. I think a lot of shippers offer a packing service - they come - pack EVERYTHING, put it in the van and its done.

The general advice at the moment (perhaps due to the exchange rate) is to bring everything! The cost of replacing all your furniture etc., etc. is probably more than the cost of shipping.

Most shippers pack for you and often into a van which they then offload to the container.

Many people manage with a 20ft container and if you opt to share a 40ft container, this can reduce the cost.

I googled: movers from Eire to Auckland. See what that brings up. Pickfords is mentioned and I know a few in Oz who have used them.
