Default RNZN/RN Transfer

Hi All,

I am relatively new to this site so here goes.

I left the RN last year planning to join the RNZN. I now have an offer of service from the New Zealand Navy and was wondering if there is anyone out there who has recently transferred across?
If there is how did you get a letter from the RN stating that you were free from reserve service?

Thanks, I've found him. RIght in the middle of an Raf/RNAF transfer thread. Are you in the RNZN by any chance? There is a none to happy person in the thread above, reckons the NZDF wage is so low and the cost of living so high that it is a struggle to live on it!!!

Well a lots changed since I last visited.

I now have my OOS and it looks pretty good. I am in the middle of trying to complete the EOI, my god talk about round in circles!

It seems the occupation I am going into in the Navy isn't on the skills shortage list??????? Yet the Navy refers to it as a "critical Shortage".

Anyway, I need to get mucho points now as my 12 week old daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis 3 weeks ago, so it will definitely be a miracle if we get past the EOI assessment, let alone the visa medicals.

Anyone else out there in the same boat (pun not intended) regarding OOS and EOI?

Sorry to hear about your daughter meant to reply through the RNZAF thread but as your active in this one saves trolling through history

We have made friends with a couple that came over in March with a son with cystic fibrosis. We asked if they had any advice and they said keep every bit of paperwork since diagnosis as they will probably ask for all the information when you have submitted your EOI to be forwarded on for further medical consideration.

Trust me as someone who suffered through further consideration it can get frustrating as you sit and wait from answers but it is worthwhile if this is what you have set your heart on giving a go.

We will keep our fingers crossed for you hope this has been some help, not a lot of info I know but people have been through what your going through now and are enjoying life out here so good luck

Hi

Sorry to hear about your daughter, and I hope your application is successful. We certainly have a massive shortage of clankies. I'm quite enjoying the RNZN but we could do with a pay rise (who couldn't). Feel free to PM me if you want any further info.

Thats definately positive that you know someone who has made it across despite their son having CF. How are they finding Health care in NZ for the CF?

Thats it, EOI submitted and I managed to scrape up 185 points from somewhere???
Fingers crossed, if this doesn't work I will have to convince my boss to transfer me out there and my current employer isn't to popular in them there parts at the minute!
