Can anyone tell me what the situation is regarding purchasing a house in NZ and living there for part of the year, without working (ie retired)?

Are you a British Citizen? If so, you can visit NZ as a visitor for up to 6 months a year without needing a visa...have a look here... http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd.../1018Aug21.pdf

Thanks for the link and the info. Yes, I am British, although my husband isn't - nothing's ever simple, but he'd just have to get a visitors visa I suppose.
