Hello
Can anyone tell me what the situation is regarding purchasing a house in NZ and living there for part of the year, without working (ie retired)?

Hi there

Are you a British Citizen? If so, you can visit NZ as a visitor for up to 6 months a year without needing a visa...have a look here... http://www.immigration.govt.nz/NR/rd.../1018Aug21.pdf

New Zealand real estate agents will let anyone buy property, regardless of residency rights. Shania Twain bought two stations down Wanaka way and she's about as kiwi as George Bush.

There are plenty of holiday homes owned by Americans who visit for the summer then go back home.
