Question for Parents overhere
Over the weekend, I was informed that New Zealand have a social agreement with the United Kingdom and that "child benefit" is available to UK citizens over here
At first, I thought utter rubbish - until I saw the gov.uk website and it confirms that there is an agreement in place
Is there anyone here that has applied through this and was successful? I'm just wondering what you had to declare etc. If you are too uncomfortable to say on a public forum, kindly PM me. We have a UK bank account still in place over there.
I've seen Canada is also on the list. Quite shocked both countries are displayed on that list. Then again, I didn't realise anything was in place...

I see that also, mind you I don't agree with it unless you are still contributing to the economy in the UK.
If anyone one has/does do this would be very interested also in finding out about it.
When I called and said we were moving they did ask if it was for more than 3 years and as our plan was for at least 5 years I said yes and payments stopped.

Didn't know anything about that.
When we moved out we didn't say anything to HMRC or whoever they are but they sent us a letter after being here 3 / 6 months and told us we weren't eligible for child benefit anymore since we were not Resident in the UK even though we were UK citizens so took it off us.
