On the one hand it's good that you do know people for which these awful circumstances are a daily reality, since I honestly don't think many do ....more people live in inner cities than in the perfect little gingerbread land you seem to live in!

Oh dear. :frown:

No - I meant many who generalise don't know what they are talking about (yet you do by knowing people) NOT that few people live in cities/deprived areas or anything else.

Gingerbread land???? Who is presuming to know people now? No shoulder chips here in gingerbread land.

Too much anger and personal attack being vented here for me now - good day to you.

Well that is amazing!

So far rather than answer the thread you chose to pick at my response, when I replied you replied in a patronising manner, you then generalised saying I honestly don't think many people do and then go on to say many who generalise don't know what they are talking about -that would be you then! Having not experienced the inner city life I mean, and then say too much anger and personal attack!

As I recall I only gave my personal opinion it was you who decided to disect it, criticise it and tell me I was wrong. I wasn't looking for an argument I quite simply answered the thread and gave my personal opinion based on my personal experiences.

I am happy to leave it at that.

I am pretty amazing thanks!! Two olympic medals, lovely family, happy childhood, lots of letters after my name and a successful career.

As far as I am aware I did not attack your life, yet showed compassion to the negative aspects of it.

I displayed interest in your view, hence asking questions.

I did not tell you that you were wrong.

I apologised in good faith.

Sadly a lot of this was obviously lost in translation.

Me too :D

Laura, your post about the places those kids lived reminded me of the arguments I used to get into with my parents about being friends with people who were 'not good enough' I used to stay in a friend's house every second weekend and they had no chairs (used milkcrates), no bathroom (my friend built one a couple of years later with her own hands) and all sorts of stuff that wasn't acceptable to my parents. But, d'you know what I remember most? Her mum knew I loved this particular bread and every time I arrived there would be a loaf waiting for me - might sound silly but they loved me and that was her way of showing it and my memories are only that it was such a happy house

I know that's off on a tangent but you know me and stories :D

Anyway, like Dazal, I came here because of my Kiwi hubby. I had my fortune told years before I met him and was told that I would live in a country far, far away LOL So, it was written in the stars

I quite clearly didn't mean that you were amazing but as with all of my other posts you interpreted it in your own unique way...perhaps you need affirmation of your brilliance, hence trying to share what you see as measures of your success on a thread that asked people who have moved to NZ (NOT AWAY FROM IT) why they moved here.

I never said you attacked my life...considering you know nothing of it you couldn't possibly attack it...I said you picked at my post.

Your way of asking questions was patronising and with a distinct hint of 'Holier than thou' - I posted a response to a question, quite simple really, you didn't you went through my post and picked at it bit by bit...I never asked you to do that but having done so I felt obliged to respond.

For someone so happy with the UK why do you spend so much time on the NZ part of this site...perhaps your life is not as rosy as you seem to be trying to convince yourself.

I am happy here in NZ, I am not saying the UK is the worst place in the world to live because I had a good life there but I chose to leave and try NZ, which for me works...perhaps one day you will be happy too xxx

I'm the loan shark's brother in law. I'm trying to track this person down.

ok guys - enough surely!

You're both happy. Well I know uk+kiwi is :)

Now as someone who was also accused of kidding myself recently - my comment on the above quote would be

yeh right.
:p

Some people are just happy - ok?? Why is that such a problem for others?

Are you also saying that just because you come on here ( regardless of which forum)you're unhappy in some way? That's just rubbish - we are all here for various reasons - I probably have a huge hit count - I work from home, when I come in from the farm I check in - I will do this lots of times during a day. It doesnt mean I have nothing else to do - it just means I'm taking a break and catching up with people - and if wonders never end - I might even be able to give some advice and if so that's a plus.

Don't knock people for being here - you're here yourself, after all.

Hi all

Have a question. I was just wondering and this is just out of curiosity really (or nosiness!) but what brings you out here to this wonderful country. I know why I came and its only because my hubby is a kiwi, dont think I would have been brave enough to do it otherwise. I dont regret it at all though and love it here, the good and the bad. But just wanted to know what makes other people want to leave their homes and come to the other end of the world.

Thanks

Darryl:)

anyway back to the original question :)

Just wanted an adventure and some space.

Yes you're right, sorry. I have tried to delete all my messages but for some reason I can't so they'll have to stay.

You say OK guys enough surely! Your both happy well I know UK+kiwi is - can't you see how derogatory that is? It implies that I am not and then you go on to say Yeah right! Perhaps you need to be more objective! All you have done is join the I am now gonna criticise you too team!

I am not knocking anyone for being here my criticism is that I never started a thread saying

PLEASE PEOPLE PICK FAULT WITH MY OPINIONS

I responded to an existing thread on why I came to NZ and feel that it is unjustified that people are criticising my personal opinions...yes the whole point is to try and be supportive. I am fairly new to NZ and happen to be enjoying it and my reasons for leaving the UK are valid to me, so others picking fault will automatically get me to respond...and I never said everyone that comes on here must be unhappy, YOU made that interpretation - again you are picking fault with something I have said that wasn't even directed at you (objectivity?) I am perfectly happy with my new life in NZ but don't see why I should have to justify my personal opinions...it's just that my opinion.

So if you want to leave it why do you both keep responding?
