Poll on spiders - please can everyone reply...

Re: Poll on spiders ** UPDATE **
I had the bright idea of contacting some NZ vets to ask if they ever see pets suffering from spider bites, and I had this really encouraging reply from a lovely vet in Christchurch:
<<I've done a quick poll of everyone at the clinic. Most of us have never come across a WT! I've seen one once -brought into a rural clinic by a client.
Another vet has seen one in her old house & one at the old vet clinic.
Whilst we do see animals with bites & stings, we've never had an owner
confirm that they were from WTs -and WTs aren't v speedy, so would normally be seen around if they were the cause.
Probably the best thing would be to ensure you get a more modern house -the old 'weatherboard' (wooden) houses prob have more cracks & places for any spiders to hide. Although saying that -I live in an old wooden house and
have never seen one. If you are unlucky enough to get a house with a spider
problem then you can get pest control around to spray, but I really wouldn't
worry too much -no-one I know of has a spider infestation! NZ is very much
like the UK -I never give a second thought to anything nasty & biting (apart
from the sandflies, which are as bad as they are in Scotland, in the
National Parks & coastal areas -not in Chch though).
It's a big step emigrating -my mum is from NZ so it was never such a big
thing for me, as I'd been to NZ on and off over the years. But I brought my
UK partner over 6mths ago -and we've not had a single regret -def not
missing the London smog, crowds, stress or traffic. There seem to be more
and more and more people moving over from the UK -and everyone seems to love it over here. It's a lovely laid back lifestyle.
Good luck with the move, and really don't worry about any nasty creepy
crawlies.>>
I feel happier already

at one time, we had quite a few in our house. they were climbing up the curtains, on our beds, down the walls and across the floors. but we found a spider spray in the warehouse and sprayed it round our windows. touch wood, since then we havent had one!!
