Hi all, first visit to the NZ forum. I was just wondering how the application process works. Can someone explain. It would appear that the only way to get to NZ now is to have a job offer, is this correct? I went to the NZ immigration website and did the points test but all the employment questions seem to relate to people who were already employed in NZ or people who had a job offer. Not little old me, still working in the UK! confused or what

By trade i'm an aerospace engineer and have reasonable qualifications however, if this occupation isn't on the governments NOC list, does that mean there's no point applying as a skilled worker?

Please help.

You either get enough points to apply for residence with your skills and qualifications or you have to secure a job offer to make up the points.

But you cant get the points unless your in an occupation thats required. You could be a brain surgeon with a masters degree and you still wouldn't have enough points! Unless they wanted doctors!

Probably need to go down the Work to Residence root then - have a look into that.
