Default This is it! Nz for the first time-

Hi All

I am visiting Nz in November for the first time. I have been thinking about emigrating for sometime and narrowed the search down to one country - Nz.

I am 28 and my brother 24 we both wish to have a go at starting a new life in Nz. I want to meet prospective employers - look at costs of apartments. I will be focusing on auckland and wellington as this is where I guess the jobs are.

Shall i write to employers stating I would like to meet them out there ?

what else do i need to look for >?

What line of work are you and your brother in? Maybe posters can give you some advice on which potential employers to get in touch with.

Otherwise, if its your first visit I would recommend having a good look around the main cities and some of the regions too. Again if you were to give us a clue as to what sort of new life you are after we can guide you a bit on this too.

I generally hate to answer a question with a question, but in this case its hard to advise without a bit more info from you guys.

Thanks for your response mate.

I work for the local gov't here and wish to do the same in Nz - My official title is Community Development Worker - I work with various communities -work with economically deprived communities and have an undergraduate degree in Social Policy - so i will be looking for specialized role I guess my competition won't be so great

My Brother is an Archivist

So - what shall we do - do we stand a good chance ?

Most Govt departments head offices are in Wellington Imz.

There has just been a restructure in the Ministry of Justice and they were advertising for staff with your qualifications but I am not sure if they have been filled.

Have a look here....

https://jobs.govt.nz/

I would certainly contact them prior to your arrival to see if you could meet drop your CV in.

You should find most of the contacts here...

There was this previous thread from another archivist that may be of interest.

I'm afraid I don't know about your line of work.
