Re: NZ Drivers
I still let people in, I just don't expect them to thank me for it. Another thing which pisses me off are the tail gaters...Especially when you are about to go around a corner...and then there is the give way to the left rule...
Worst thing ever happened to me here was a 4x4 road rager who flipped when I beeped him. Slammed his car into reverse and then got out of his car to verbally attack me and told me to "**** off back to England you pommy faggot!" Ahh lovely

Re: NZ Drivers
I just think all the posts about how bad Kiwi drivers are hilarious , have you all never been to France/Belgium/Italy/Any Latin country ? On the road after a lunch at weekends in a Latin country, now that is real scary, you would never complain again about Kiwis again !

Re: NZ Drivers
I was out with an Asian colleague (ooer, that sounds leading - we were escorting a patient!) and he said he may as well live up to the expectation that Asians are bad drivers. He then proceeded to go round a car-park the wrong way. A woman shouted at him, "this is only one way!!', he replied,"thats OK, I'm only going one way"!!

Re: NZ Drivers
After being back in the UK for 2 years, all i can say is that driving here now is as dangerous as NZ. Well almost, but give it time.

Re: NZ Drivers
What I miss the most about the UK is the Courtesy of a "Thank you" when you give way to someone even if they have the right of way or you have the right of way.
Something that few New Zealands know how to do and funny enough you can always spot a new pom because they seem to be the only ones saying thank you when the Kiwis dont.
nb:-You do get the occasional spontaneous greeting in some parts of NZ but few a far between.

For my money I rather drive in AKL than Madrid or Rome. Last time I was in rome, we'd only been in town for an hour and we had been hit by two mopeds cutting us up. I also had the pleasure of a horrifying taxi ride, running red lights and wrong way down one way streets.
Kiwi's have a long way to go before they beat the Italians and the Spanish. Spanish motorways - now they are fun, being over taken by a car whilst I was in the fast lane (yes OVERtaken) he came between us and the arco.

The Places I've Driven In:
India -- chaos and worse...
Taiwan -- Speeding fines worse than drink driving fines, so if you're pissed, don't speed.
Korea -- In the early 90s when I was there it had the highest fatality rate amongst developing nations.
Malaysia -- Not that bad, surprisingly.
Thailand -- Just when you think you have seen it all some other completely absurd vehicular nonsense will astound you.
New Zealand -- drivers here would rather not use brakes, indicators or other optional equipment. Pulling out of driveways without giving way to pedestrians and other autos is mandatory.
