Talking New (probably) Estate Agent

Well I had my 2nd in line EA out this afternoon and he gave me a bit of hope!

I laid down my ground rules before I let him start - not being fixed into a time period, not paying over the odds for rubbish work, No sale, No Fee is non-negotiable - I'm not paying until they sell, and I also got him to price match Your Move's fee's too yay - got him down £250!

He has valued my house a bit more than Your Move but he has people with compulsory purchases on his books NEEDING homes in my area (big redevelopment going on and houses being knocked left right and centre!) so I'm hopeful.

Oh and I also said THEY would get a letter from me too if they didn't sell it or at least communicate with me on a regular basis! Hehe

Just got to decide 100% and call him! He said he'll be out asap with paperwork yay - far more pro-active than current EA

Wish us luck again xx (I seem to be saying this a lot!)

Hi. Sorry if this sounds stupid or nosy, I take it your selling your house in UK with Your Move? We're trying to sell through them but have given the required 4 weeks notice to terminate as their first class service seems to consist of no feedback, no buyers, no returned calls!! And their fee is double that we would pay to the EA we have in mind to switch to. We're in Telford, Shropshire and I just wondered where in the country you are - am curious to know if they are nationwidely c**p

Yup - Your Move .. more like Your Arse! Grrr

We have had house up for 13 weeks, 3 viewers and 1 pathetic offer - averages on 1 viewer per MONTH !!!!!!! They never call me with feedback and the longest I left it to see if they would let me know was 6 days before I burst and called them! I shoved the letter through door giving them the required TWO weeks notice, wonder why you had to give four ?! I expected a phone call asking why we were pulling house off but nothing - they obviously can't be that bothered !!!

Got a new EA doing all the legwork for next week when we can legally use new ones, he told me he has about 5 desperate to view - we shall see! They surely can't be worse than Y/M ?! Anyhoo, we're in Blackburn, Lancashire if this helps and WAS paying them £1700 all inc. for selling!

HTH (Hope this helps)

Before we left UK we had problems with our estate agent not selling our house and only a handful of viewers, so we got another agent on board as well. Our first agent was not happy, spouting a load of bull about him having the sole rights to sell our house. We basically told him to shut up as he had not fullfilled his part of the deal by actually selling our house. It made him get his finger out and he had our house sold within about 10 days.

Perhaps it's worth noting, that YM are actually a Franchise, which means if they have an area available, and you have the cash ANYONE can purchase the rights to trade as an EA under their "umbrella". Hmmmm?
