Hi all,

I'm new to all this but here goes:

I'm moving to Avondale in Christchurch next weekend with my hubby & 4 children ages 15, 9, 2 & 10 weeks & was wondering if anyone here knew anything about what the the area was like & also the schools etc

Any info would be great

Avondale is OK ... reasonably close to New Brighton beach (which is lovely). Also close to Burwood and Parklands which I believe have good schools (not sure about actually in Avondale).

Near Burwood is Bottlelake forest which is great for walks and cycling. New Brighton is quite good for shopping - quite a small high street, but should have everything you need.

My friends used to live in North Brighton, and they liked it - and had a daughter at college, and their son, 8 went to a local primary school.

I'm glad the beach is nice my children will love it!

My hubby's just signed a tenancy on a house in Avondale & we all move there on Monday, from what you've written sounds like it should be ok there.
