I've never been to Brisbane but a colleague (from the UK) was there at the end of January and she said her make up was running down her face and no matter what she did with her hair it just hung limp on her head (these things matter to her)

I don't have the statistics, but at a guess I'd say Brisbane had more humid days. The higher temperatures make is seem worse too. Having said that Auckland had a day of 100% humidity a couple of months ago. Ever had to swim to work?

cold and humid is known by the technical name of 'damp'

ick, sounds grim, the damp that is.
Yes I would have thought brisbane would be more humid, but just wanted to be sure.

Auckland We found the need for a tumble drier even in summer!

It gets very humid in Auckland and the sun is much harsher.

Auckland is the only place I've owned a clothes dryer, but it was the rain not the humidity that made it necessary. Guess that may be a problem in Brissy in the rainy season too.

I lived in Auckland for 8 years and now reside in Australia. I visit Brisbane regularly and without a doubt Brissy is hotter and more humid. Because of the lower summer temperatures in Auckland the humidity is not a major issue howwver in the winter it is very damp with many people owning de-humidifiers to dry the house out.

I see, thanks for that - its interesting to know. A weatherboard house then, I would imagine would be a no-no ... although I'm aware most housing in NZ is quite poorly made - paper walls, lack of insulation, no heating etc.
[Just to add, I'm not intentionally slagging it off, I grew up there, but in chch and nearly froze to death most winters]
