What would be the point of heating a sieve? Often described in real estate agent windows as a period house that oozes with character - as we all know real estate have invented double speak, so that would read, old house with bugger all insulation and numerous draugh's!
But thanks for brighten my dull, grey morning

Over the last four years the latest we've lit the woodburner is the 25th April (sad I know but I keep track ) so it'll be interesting to see if we need it so early this year..

We wouldn't look to start the wood burner 'til around June time.

I love...and miss Welly.
I do not miss the Welly wind. Staggering home in gale force winds not my idea of a fun time.
I do love old villas though. As my mum used to say, "stop whinging and put a jersey on."

1 degree!!! where do you live - Scott Base or the Ross Ice shelf? I'm at the top of a hill in Wellington and it only got down to about 14 in the coldest bedroom last night - and it's an old (100 years old) house.

We have that problem as well. Very chilly one minute. Light the wood burner to be all cosy and a while later down to t-shirts , then later on again it's open the upstairs windows.
I forgot about the humidity up there Batty. That would make a difference.

Nice thread...
Please help me...
I just realised that I'll be leaving the UK Winter (just finishing) to the NZ Winter as hopefully (NZ Immigration dependant!) I will be joining you guys in Auckland soon...
So should I pack coats & scarfs? Winter temperature... What are talking about? Lots of rain?
Yes I admit... I have not researched before accepting the job...
