MEDICALS.......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We had are medicals & x-rays done in york today...
Almost £1000 ..
Any way all went well with everyone,my wife and two children..
Then it was my turn...... Everything was going well, but i have high blood pressure...So got to get a couple more blood tests (hate doing them as it is)....
Its been along road ,having sorted my step children (check step children thread)..Get the feeling someone is trying to stop me from going...
Just wanted to sound off a bit, feeling a bit fed up at the mo.....
As they say..'shit appens'....

Re: Medicals
Hi Squiddly. Don't get me started (check our thread 'I don't believe it!').
Spent 1400 quid on meds/xrays for the 5 of us, then Medical Assessor asked for an Echo Cardiogram for our youngest (extra 250 thanks) and letters from docs re a heart murmur I'd forgotten ever existed and blood pressure for OH (extra 80 quid). Sent this is, then after another 4 weeks, wanted report on middle childs mild asthma and Osgood Schlatters (growing pains in knee) so another letter from doc (20 quid). MA then said they wanted a specialist review of middle childs aforementioned conditions. Sent extensive docs letter (20 quid please!) and then MA said no, insisted on specialist report on his growing pains! 2 consultations with an orthopaedic doc at private clinic and a private xray later (200 quid ta!), this was sent up around 10th Sep.
We submitted our ITA 18th May, with job offer. Every time it gets referred, that's another 4 weeks from when it's sent back to MA. Still waiting!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the rant but I did say, don't get me started!

Re: Medicals
It never ceases to amaze me what others have had to pay for medicals, and how lucky I was to be able do it the way I did.
I arrived in NZ on a visitors visa with my partner, who is a New Zealand citizen.
We rented a house within 2 weeks and registered with our local GP
When the time came to apply for PR, my GP did the medical and blood tests for free (bless him) and I had a chest x-ray done at the local medical lab.
Total cost $75 !!!

Hi Squidds and Chippy.
I really do hope that this is finally sorted out soon . It has so dragged on for both of you.
It won't help at all but have some karma & keep your chins up .

I take back what i said, about what we paid yesterday..
A drop in the ocean to what you have forked out...
I do think its a licence to print money,as long as they have a demand they can charge what they want...
May be they should wear masks ..Robbing B*****D's
On alighter note, had the extra blood tests today, results back friday,so fingers crossed ,we can get it posted off next week..
Well chippy, hope you get your things sorted soon..

Leaving in 58 days, yes I am counting the days, and I'm so excited!
Good luck to the rest of you in trying to sort out your medicals. I knew they would be expensive but not that bad!

Re: Medicals
Squidd, fingers crossed for us all! Not too sure MA is even a doc - you can Google Osgoods and it tells you everything you ever wanted to know, without paying squillions.
Anyway, like I said, fingers crossed, thanks for karma Bev and thanks to everyone else for all the support!

Re: Medicals
Wow it is such a relief to hear that.....I'm in the same situation, coming over on a 2 year working holiday visa with my kiwi partner. I have been worrying about the costs of medicals when the time comes!

Good luck when you come to NZ. If you feel you need any advice about getting PR through the partnership stream, or advice about the Vital documents to bring with you, send me a private message
