Maybe have to be howick?! Any thoughts??
Hi
I have always had my heart set on hibiscus coast when I move to NZ, however, for a variety of reasons I may have to change my plans. I was wondering if any one had thoughts on howick/ beachlands areas?? My daughter has been looking at schools and I understand both macleans college and howick are good schools. Please feel free to fill me In on the Good bad and ugly!!!

most would opt for Mcleans as they do the Cambridge exams the schools here are zoned but you are able to go into a ballot if out of zone which is advertised in the local paper once a year

Presume you mean Howick/Bucklands Beach, as Beachlands as some distance away towards Maratei. Certainly both are in the main nice areas, reasonable distance from the city but okish commute so long as not heading to CBD and beyond. Schools, Macleans seems to have a good reputation.

We live in Cockle Bay which is right next to Howick.
It's a lovely place, some great beaches close by (Eastern, Howick and Cockle) and very close to good shopping in Botany (10 min drive).
In Howick its self there are several good restaurants and a couple of nice pubs.
There is also a farmers market every Saturday morning that is supposed to be good but we have only ever seen the tail end of!
We love it here but it is very convenient for our work too. If we were working near the CBD then as someone mentioned the commute would be hard work.
