Job offer Start Date in October - which way to Proceed?
Hi guys a newbie here with a couple of questions –
My wife has been offered a Job in Napier with a start date of October 2010, in order to make the date and the visa application process should we :-
1. Go the EOI and “Skilled Migrant Route” as we currently score around 180-190 points. (how long is the process taking?)
2. Apply for a Work To Residency Visa and apply for residency when in Country (How long does this visa take to process and be granted)
3. If we have Work To Residency visas how would that effect our two children’s schooling. One aged 13 and would need to go to a secondary school. The 17 year old is eligible for University as he has enough points already, but if we are not residents can he still apply for the student loan grants?
4. Am I also correct in thinking that if we get WTR visas we would have to pay for medicals again when in New Zealand
We are all very excited now in getting the process started and hopefully starting our new lives soon
Many thanks in advance skybluestu

Hi Stu I should think option 1, and the process should get you there in time. The people that are in the know are now in bed but I'm sure in about 3-4 hours you will be recieving expert direction..... meant to add we are in Kenilworth..

So with at least 5 months spare you should be fine.

If the primary applicant has a job offer you will be prioritised (not sure about secondary applicants). I believe they can turn around applications really quickly in that case. You'd also need to look into lead times for professional registration (if thats required) and for booking and taking your medicals. Seems achievable to me though.

son will not be eligable for student loans unless you you have PR.
Is eldest keen to come? our 17 yr old didnt settle and has returned to
the uk for uni. Just a thought you might want to leave him behind to
complete his studies
