Well we saw it in Auckland and actually you could (with binoculars) make out a cylinder shape rather than just a bright dot in the sky.

Cool. When I lived on a plateau in SW France (middle of nowhere), I saw the shuttle pulling away from the ISS. Immensely cool! Could see tons of satellites with the nekkid eye there, too.
