Hi
We are on work visa's and found a company called Columbus Direct who we used for travel insurance for a trip to Australia, from memory I think we needed to have been here for 3 months for them to insure us.

Hope that is of some help.

Southern Cross do travel insurance and you do not have to be a resident
We used them for when we went to Sri Lanka. It was about $57 for the 2 weeks.

We are on a WTR visa, so far we have car and contents insurance with Fintel, health insurance with Southern cross and about to get home insurance with Tower. None of them asked any questions about visas!!

Aaaah the home and contents insurance
You can get home/contents etc with any bank - especially the ones your a customer with.
We've got contents with Westpac (finally insuring Canterbury), bit pricey but all content insurance round Canterbury is bloomin expensive these days
