Hi
We are on work visa's and found a company called Columbus Direct who we used for travel insurance for a trip to Australia, from memory I think we needed to have been here for 3 months for them to insure us.
http://www.columbusdirect.com.au/

Hope that is of some help.

Thanks but yes obviously I did this first. The issue is temp residents (ie wtr visas) are not eligible for most insurance policies.

Southern Cross do travel insurance and you do not have to be a resident

We used them for when we went to Sri Lanka. It was about $57 for the 2 weeks.

Aaaah the home and contents insurance

You can get home/contents etc with any bank - especially the ones your a customer with.

We've got contents with Westpac (finally insuring Canterbury), bit pricey but all content insurance round Canterbury is bloomin expensive these days
