I won't be able to bring Noddy and Cinnamon my Senegal doves my last remaining pets what makes it ultra sad is that Noddy is blind and has been hand raised since he was a chick and he's very attached to us

Thanks everyone ~ I guess I need to bring absolutely everything. I'ts easy to think you won't need something then to discover it's pricey to purchase again. What about the contents of the drinks cupboard? We have quite a few malts, can you bring only unopened bottles? Personally, I would just top them up with diet coke and drink them!!!! Hubby might have different ideas, though!

My list would be like the Generation Game;
Shoes
Boots
Side by side fridge-freezer
Coffee machine
Breadmaker
Front loading washing-machine
Dyson vacuum cleaner
Decent bakeware / saucepans (Prestige, Circulon and the likes)
Anything and everything you like from Ikea
Plus half of a Lakeland

Ummm? I'm thinking maybe Stevens would be the closest high street thing but then again no, not a patch!!
Check the prices....
Anything you might recognise as a good brand is megabucks, although we've no end of cheapo flimsy pots and pans.
There's places like http://www.millyskitchen.co.nz/ but there you are definitely moving into arm and leg territory.

Wish I had brought my Dyson. I prefer upright vacuums [of any type] and hate cylinders. Problem is cylinders are common over here, uprights exist but are very expensive. Left my upright Dyson at my Dad's It's a good excuse not to do the hoovering but Mr S doesn't take over and do it instead unfortunately...
More clothes and books
More shoes...can you ever have too many shoes?
Decent bookshelves, they exist but expensive compared to what you can get in the UK

Hi
If you like to read, then buy as many as you can and bring them with you. Books are sooooo expensive over here. I have recently discovered a uk website called bookdepository.co.uk , uk priced books and free delivery.
TVs are way cheaper over here, so dont do what we did ....... went out and bought a huge new flatscreen, blu ray and surround sound etc etc, big mistake as they are about half the price over here - ooops !!!!
Good luck with the move

Forgot to mention cosmetics ! would definately recommend stocking up on make-up and face creams. You will pay nearly double over here for them.
You will probably find most things are more expensive over here, especially to start with, as you dont get many dollars for your pounds anymore!

Re: "I wish I had brought..."
My container's being delivered today so I'll find out what I thought I'd put in but didn't and vise versa. I was very ruthless when sorting out my stuff and wish I hadn't been. But here's what I know now I wish I'd brought - memory foam matteress, condensing tumble drier, floor standing lamps - all hard to get and expensive, kitchen table, plastic storage drawers from kids rooms, kitchen bits & bobs. Anyway there'll probably be more later but everyone's under the threat of death if they say why didn't you put _________ in? I had to do it all myself as OH was already here and I had 6 weeks to do it in.

Good luck ! I suppose with your children at school and your husband at work it's you and the movers unpacking it all ? Oh if anybody thinks for one minute that it will all be put away and neat by the time they all get home.......

Re: "I wish I had brought..."
my fridge magnet collection. I had about 15 of them stuck to a boiler in a cupboard (our fridge was an inbuilt one in the UK with no metal on the outside).
Now we have a manky old fridge with just 4 magnets on...but none from all the places I'd visited in the UK. Sad I know. I've even been tempted to write to the people who bought our flat to ask them to post them to us.
