Default Hiring Furniture

Does anyone know if its cheaper to hire furniture or rent a fully furnished house to get us through until ours arrives.

It depends on how long you have to wait for your belongings to arrive.

We bought a few items to tie us over until our things arrived. We bought a patio table and chairs that we used as a dining table, a couple of sofa beds and new beds for the kids as we got rid of theirs back in the UK. We bought some cooking items, plates etc {nothing expensive all from the Wearhouse}. We also bought a new TV as we did not bring ours with us, also some lovely kiwis loaned us a fridge. We also bought some items of bedding and brought quilt covers etc with us.

We used a local launderette for washing.

Everything was a bit "make do" for the 3 weeks we waited for our furniture to arrive, but we managed.

Found out later that we could have hired a bed. The first couple of nights ona sofa bed is OK...... but 3 weeks was 2 weeks too long for me.
Cheers

we really wanted a furnished house but there really are hardly any - about 90% of rentals are unfurnished. We found the few furnished or part furnished that came up were enough more expensive per week to not want to go down that route. We ended up doind a round in the $2 shop for enough kitchen bits to keep us going and then just bought some odd bits and pieces that were totally needed. Making do for the few weeks is the better option - the cat basket is currently our TV stand!
