Default Getting a NZ tax refund.?

Hi all,

I worked in NZ for 2 full tax years 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. I have just received my summary of earnings from the IRD. I am filling out an IR3 form for each year and an IR50 (refund for people leaving NZ). I am a UK resident and left NZ at the end of my working permit. Are there any other forms i need to complete? I have paid about $11,000 NZD in tax. Any idea if Im due any of it back?

Thanks in advance

Alex

I think the UK and NZ have a double tax agreement. I did a year in NZ but wasn't able to reclaim any tax. But I wish you luck!

Hi,

You've probably looked on the IRD site already, but here's a link on refunds if not:
http://www.ird.govt.nz/income-tax-in...d-bill/refund/

With regards to Yotty's comment on Double Taxation Treaties, this usually comes into play if you're (domestically) tax resident in both the UK and New Zealand, which given the time you mentioned you've spent in NZ, I'd guess you most likely broke UK tax residency.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
