Gaining Citizenship
Hi
We lived in NZ for 4 years and left 2 years ago. Can we still claim citizenship even if we do not live in the country. We do have full residency and gained that before we even got to NZ.
Any ideas on where to look or who to contact?
Thanks in Advance

You should check out the Department of Internal Affairs website
http://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.ns...s?OpenDocument
Check it for yourself, but I think you will find that you have to have lived actually IN NZ for 5 years before citizenship can be granted, and you must intend to continue to live here if it is.

You have to have been in NZ for 186 days of the year for the last five years, so basically.....no.

Residence means that Immigration New Zealand has allowed you to live in New Zealand indefinitely. You are required to have:
Been present in New Zealand;
for at least 1,350 days with New Zealand residence during the 5 years immediately before you make your application; and
for at least 240 days with New Zealand residence in each of those 5 years; and
Fully met any conditions imposed by Immigration New Zealand in regard to your New Zealand residence.
I had to reset the clock as I worked offshore for parts of 2009-2011
