Any ideas on where I may get dental Insurance in NZ because he says the tooth needs doing ASAP when I arrive.

Thanks

Do you already have something like Denplan in place? If so perhaps you could keep it running and act like you're on holiday? Ask your UK dentist for their thoughts x Good luck x

I've had a thought on this....which caused my one intermittent brain cell some pain.

The Uni of Otago has a Faculty of Dentistry. I seem to remember that Fooferfish has gone there for dental work which didn't cost as much as usual because it's a training place.

Maybe contact them and see .

Yis . It's in Dunedin . I think about a 3 hour drive from Invers.

Just wish I could find those old posts where Foofer talked about it. I'll keep looking.

I would say if the temporary filling which has been done is sensitive, it probably needs a root canal. A crown on an unsettled tooth is probably a terrible idea. Make sure you have some funds and then find a dentist in NZ who may have a different opinion than your NHS(?) UK one in any event.

Dunedin is not that far from Invercargill and that is where the NZ Dental School is. Wellington has several excellent dentists and they are not as expensive as in Auckland.

Dunners is about 2 and half away from Invers, I drive there most weeks for work. The school is in the middle of the city, fairly easy to find.

It is indeed - walked past it on my last trip there.

I live in Auckland, and frankly it would probably be cost effective to book a flight to Dunedin in advance (so cheaper) and get the work done there...

Well just get the root canal done - a crown isn't always necessary(depends how much tooth structure is left) but can wait in any event until you have saved up.
You could see where the nearest endodontist(root canal specialist) is to Invercargill - probably Otago University but not necessarily.
