Default The cost of getting a visa

I was just sorting through our heaps of paperwork relating to getting our permanent resident visa's (which we've got just in case any one didn't know!!!!!!!!!) and came across the receipts and did a quick tally. This is a for a family of 4 under skilled migrant category-

Close your eyes and take a peep :scared:

stuff to prove qualifications: £150
overseas professional registration: £110
professional practicing certificate: £150
EOI: £117
ITA: £520
medicals: £420
xrays: £115
police checks: £40 (had to do it twice!)
certfied copies £100 (had to do it twice)
migrant levy £460

Grand total: £2182

How spooky Joshlin...I was having a bit of a tot up yesterday after adding the costs of meds and xrays onto my little imigration costs spreadsheet (well, what do you expect I am a finance officer for goodness sake!!! lol... ) and I reckon that by the time we've submitted our ITA and paid the migrant levy our costs will come to £2068.49 (but that does include the cost of books etc too...)

Money well spent I think and happy to be that much poorer...sob, sob...

(but just think how many pairs of shoes and handbags that would have bought!!!:scared: lol... )

That's interesting to know that it costs on average 2k for a family of 4 to apply for visas from the UK, as we thought that it was costing us more doing it from Spain - it turns out that we've spent £1973 for the four of us.

Matt's employer to be in NZ said that he found it hard to believe it cost us so much, which made us wonder if we could have done it more cheaply another way. Good to know that we're all in the same boat!

And that's just the visa, add in the flights, the freight, small things like photos, birth certificates, and then the copious amounts of alcohol to get through it ........ Don't know why they don't just have an application form that says "Are you willing to spend over £11,000 to get here" and if you can tick yes, they can consider that you must be committed to it and likely to settle!
