Claiming a birth parent
Recently my OH and I met his son, conceived when he was 17. The boy's Mum cut OH off and married several years later. OH had to reluctantly sign adoption papers over to her new husband. To cut a long story short the boy had a hell of a life ofemotional abuse unbeknown to us. Now OH and the boy have claimed each other and get on well.
Right that's the background, now for the question. In this situation, providing he can track down his original birth certificate and providing it has OH's name as father (which I assume it must as he had to sign the adoption papers) is he entitled to claim dual citizenship and a UK passport as our other kids are? In other words, can he claim that relationship by blood, despite the adoption by another man? He only asked because he thought of going to UK a few years ago, but was put off by problems of getting a visa, not knowing that he had a British dad.

OH and partner never married, although he offered. Son was born in 1978.
