Re: Chicken Salt
Has anyone heard of "black peas" A fair (Silcocks) used to travel around Lancashire, they came to my home town of Tyldesley twice a year. They had what was called a Pea Saloon where you could sit inside and eat your Black Peas. They were actually Maple Peas which were steeped overnight and then boiled. You added salt & vinegar to taste.

They call those "corn dogs" in the States. They're utterly vile things! *puke emote* I was really surprised when they pass as the norm for "hot dogs" here. You have to ask for an "American hot dog" to get a thing in a bun. And then it's bright pink anyway!

I'd forgotten about popcorn... I had to get used to salted or buttered popcorn when I moved to the US, but they do have caramelised popcorn. Of course it's way more sickly sweet than it needs to be...

They're just so disgusting - I can't believe a Kiwi would even be selling those things.
Just thinking about that on a Sunday morning is making me ill
