Same in Aus, fish and chips, with salt that tastes of chicken, and no vinegar.
HAd fish and chips in Sussex this week, real salt and real vinegar, I sat there with this strange look of delirious delight on my face :D

Talking of vinigar, (hi-jacking your thread) has any one found a decent alternative to Sarsons in the supermarket they can recommend? Its just for chips....

So that's what it is. I don't think I ever saw "chicken-flavored salt" in the States.

Whoever came up with it, it's kind of disgusting and I wish they'd give me a choice at the F&C shops here. I've started asking for no salt, but they never seem to remember.

DrL steps forward - you really mean acetic (ethanoic) acid......bit like ethanol but with more oxygen.....

Does anyone remember the shock horror story in the News of the Screws about putting this dangerous "chemical" on your chips?
