It is remote certainly, so maybe the time and therefore cost of delivering from Wellington or Auckland to New Plymouth doesn't make it cost effective for some companies.

You may find it cheaper to find a company that will deliver straight to New Plymouth port. Doing a quick search this company appears, but I've got no idea about them or their costs, someone else might though? http://www.hunts-international.co.uk...totaranaki.htm

Thanks for that MOSO, will look into them. Pickfords got back to us with not a bad general quote so I've invited them round for a proper reccy.

So far for a 20ft container - sole use of
PSS £3614 + container cleaning cost ins of £35 (£280 ins for £12000 worth of contents)
Pickfords rough quote £3800

A little update for anyone interested in comparisons of container costs:

Hunts (20 ft container as above) £3680 (£265 for £10000 of ins cover), ship to New Plymouth
Anglo Pacific £3700 (approx) (£250 for £10000 of ins cover), ship to New Plymouth

Niether Hunts or Anglo Pacific state additional costs (container cleaning!)

10k ins doesn't sound a lot, are you not bringing much stuff with you?

10k is an easily multiplied figure for anyone wanting to work out more or less (I haven't priced all our stuff yet, but guess it'll be around the contents insurance I currently have, which is more than 10k) - suppose I could have just given a percentage figure
