There are some exemptions to the charge, kids, those between 16 - 18 and in full time education, people receiving certain benefits, some people on low incomes and people with specified medical conditions.

I shouldn't have said the £9 charge applies to the UK, it's only England that I have knowledge of and yes, the charge is administered by NHS England. I think prescriptions in Wales, NI and Scotland are free for everyone.

Ah ok, I’m following now. I didn’t realise that England charges for prescriptions. :-)
