We are moving to Auckland soon and my OH has been offered a job in Northcote and I will be looking for a job in the CBD. Where would be the best place to live for both of us to have fairly easy commutes? I have been recommended Devonport as an area and have been told it is great for commuting to the CBD via the ferry but what would it be like for my OH to commute to Northcote from there?

Devonport is a lovely place to be, very convenient for the CBD but the road in & out is heavily congested. Me & a friend were coming from there last week & we both commented about the traffic & what a pain it would be to commute from there by car. However, Northcote isn't too far away & it depends how long your OH is happy to be sat in traffic. Devonport is also expensive given it's proximity to the CBD.

Northcote has a ferry to town to I believe so why not live there? and only one has to commute. It's pretty with a great arthouse cinema and restaurants
