Bed Sizes are they the same
I have a 4'6'' mahogany bed frame but don't want to bring the bed with us. Would I be able to find a 4'6'' divan when I arrive? I read somewhere that bed sizes are different.

Yes they are different sizes. If you have a king bed in the UK and you need to buy new bedding you will have to buy Queen bedding, then King size bedding for super king UK. Then you have double, single, king single, the list goes on. It does get confusing sometimes. So basically you go down a size to what you have in the UK if you know what I mean, ie. king goes to queen etc. I heard someone ask about king single in Farmers store and asked if it was equivalent to the old double and the assistant said yes basically so not sure what the old double NZ was!!

King single is about halfway between a double and a single.
A lot of cheaper stores either don't sell double beds.

This confused me too when we arrived. I was told that a UK King size is equivalent of a NZ Queen size. So I bought a new queen sized duvet cover for my UK king size duvet and guess what? It was too small. I took it back and exchanged it for a king sized one which fitted perfectly. Now it might just be that the duvet cover I purchased was a UK size/product - I have noticed this with shoes as well so now I check the packaging carefully! Our kids single bedframe was shipped over and the NZ single mattress fits that ok width wise but is just about 1'' too long.
