Re: All Blacks V England.
My OH has just been offered tickets today, so we are going this Saturday. Excited. Please don't let us down England.

The point I was raising is that I don't see why the New Zealand rugby team gets to use their 'marketing brand-name' everywhere. I did enjoy Sir Clive insisting on correcting the term quite often on his visits.
it would be like picking up a programme for a game in the EPL, and finding the title "The Scum vs Everton" instead of the correct team name of 'Manchester United'.

North of England generally is more Rugby League and south of Leicester is more Rugby Union
Used to go and watch the Sheffield Eagles at Don Valley Stadium many years ago. I remember them winning the challenge cup beating Wigan when everyone thought it would be a Wigan rout.
It's huge over in Australia the RL, where as RU is huge in New Zealand.

I wouldn't say Union is huge in NZ, it's a myth. I was in a pub last Saturday and there was a Suparugby match on. The biggest city in NZs only team versus the capital cities only team both squads brimming with internationals playing in the best Union league in the world and the stadium looked empty. It was the equivalent of a Man Utd v Chelsea.

Not posh me, just went to the local comprehensive and played rugby and loved it. I played prop and when I went to polytech I propped against a big lad from the north who had only played league before. He actually squealed at the first scrum as it hurt so much and took no further part. Most of the people I played rugby with didn't go to public school, but you do love your stereotypes!
Now off you go and look after your pigeons and your whippets

My OH played rugby union through school . They also played football and cricket.
He was good enough for trials in both RU and Football but as the training etc was right across the city and they had no transport it didn't come to anything.
He came off the Lowhill council estate in Wolverhampton which was considered a sink estate really so certainly not posh & which has now been demolished. He has some quite good tails though of inter-school games between the Lowhill lot and the grammar school lads.
