Advice Needed!!
Hi Everyone!
This may sound like an odd request but I would really appreciate any advice or insights you could give me, even if you may not think its relevent.
Basically my partner and I have decided that we would like to leave England but we are not sure where we would like to go. We have travelled around New Zealand, France, Hong Kong and Portugal but are aware there are many more places which could potentially really suit us.
So in short we would like any suggestions you may have on countries, areas or cities which you would recommend, I understand this is a massive task, but like I said before, any advice you could give would really help us!
Here is a little more information which about us which might give you a better idea about the kind of place we are looking for. We are both 23 and have secure careers; Im finishing a PhD in Public Health and Health Commissioning at a good university and my partner is a Civil Engineer. We cant move until 2012 when I've finished my course and my partner is chartered, but we both have good degrees and are happy to travel until then to find the right place.
Ideally we would like to live somewhere where are money will go further than it is in the UK, and once settled would like to also move my parents out there too, even if it means employing them privately as our accountant and babysitter!
We would like somewhere that uses the same alphabet as English and is relatively liberal, other than that we are pretty easy!! Any advice or insight you can give would be majorly appreciated, and thanks again for reading this post
Thanks Mysea

Re: Advice Needed!!
Suggest you stick to EU area for ease of right to live and take up employment there.
Maybe I shouldn't be feeding the troll (?)..outrageously broad question sounds like a bad case of 'grass is always greener' to me...the pull of where you want to move to should be what decides it....

Looks like Mysea may have been given a bit of a bum steer about starting multiple threads throughout BE.
Your post is just far too broad-based . You can't really ask other people to help you decide on a place to be. As Luvwelly states, to emigrate is such a huge undertaking that it really should be for the 'pull' of the place you feel may suit you long term. Further, your two sets of parents may well have very differing ideas to your own.
As per my post into your thread in the Lounge, my suggestion to you is that you consider several working holiday visas. At least that way you may get a sense of where in the world may suit you both longterm. You may even decide that the UK is best after all.
A story:-
There was once a young chap in his 20's that came to NZ. He had a degree but did not have either the experience or the occupation that NZ needed or wanted. So, he returned to the UK and started a PHd . He also started a little website re NZ. That's how I know about him. All through those years he vowed that he couldn't wait to leave the UK and return to NZ. The UK was duff in his opinion and NZ was the place he really wanted to be. Finally he gained his PHd but in those few years he had changed or moved on as a person, just as we all change as people day to day , year to year. He was free to return to NZ but by then he had re-settled in the UK with his PHd and a thriving business too. 5/6 years later , he still has not returned to NZ.
