Accountant & NZICA Assessment. What will I further need to do please.
Hello,
I hold a 3 years bachelor degree in accounting and finance from Africa, 3 years working experience as an accountant . recently I logged an assessment for membership with NZICA and am curious what papers will I be required to re-do here in newzealand university!
Please anyone with similar experience, may share it here

Re: NZICA Assessment results
I will tweak the title and move this to the main Nz forums where other accountants may be lurking.
My first thought would be NZ taxation

Are you in NZ yet? How long have you been here? I'm not a CA, but I did look into transferring my AAT designation to AT here. I needed an NZICA CA who'd known me for two years to do that, so I didn't bother, as I hadn't been here long enough. I'm studying a UK CA qual now, by distance learning.
Friends of mine have got their CAs, they needed four year degrees, and then had to sit two papers. The biggest challenge is finding an employer that can support you through the experience log part, as you can't get the designation without it, but the employer has to be able to give you the experience, and be an approved employer with NZICA.
Some of my friends are going through the Australian CPA instead, as it's more flexible than NZICA. CIMA and ACCA may be worth considering, as they may grant you exemptions based on your degree and experience. Hope this helps.

Starting straight away to NZICA its a big mess, they will refer you first to NZQA to get your qualification assessed for NZD $790......lol!!!!
Thank you for sharing your experience

I am CIMA qualified I have had no issues with getting jobs as has a friend that had AAT. Certainly CIMa you can do here if you do not want to do NZICA I only have to do NZ Tax and Law to convert but I also have q ualification thats transferable to many other countries
