Anyone got any ideas? OH flying out in late August, he is going to his mates house in the middle of nowhere for a couple of weeks, just until he adjusts . But then he needs to start job hunting, hopefully in Auckland or Wellington and he needs cheap accom. for one for a few months. Any suggestions from the locals? B & B, hostels, some nice old dear needing someone to look after, he doesn't need that much care!

Backpackers are a good option. They tend to be centrally based and have good facilities.

Is he willing to share? There's a lot of places that have leases which come up in January. Consequently there's a fair number of short term house shares from about now onwards. Even more in August or September. Weirdly, whilst this seems to be because of the students going back to university it's not actually all student flats which have the short term shares. Odd. But there ya go.

In fact, that may be the case for house rentals as well come to think of it - I've never actually looked at rentals for an entire house/flat on a short term basis.

Again, depending on budget, you could go for a serviced appartment. That'd take the cleaning issue out for him, I know that not all husbands are as good as me with cleaning
