lauren You will find excellent information in the BE Wiki, not forgetting the Living and Moving Abroad forum that will help you, another set of great help is the permanent threads at the TOP of each forum, they are very pertinent to that particular forum and makes sensible reading. BE Moderators deal with any problems that arise such as inappropriate posts, spammers etc, you will find their names at the bottom right hand side of each forum's index in bold font. Also there are Consierges who can support and guide you. Please contact me if I can give you any further help. Rosemary |

lauren Great to hear from someone in the same situation as myself. This is my second attempt at doing it, so Im trying my hardest to do it differently this time round and to put myself out there to make new friendships, as I feel this is the most important to make the transition a success so to speak. So where abouts are you in NZ? I was born and brought up in Berkshire and then moved for the later half of my life to near the Lake District. If you want, I can private message you with my number or you can add me on facebook. Kelly |
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi Kelly, I've been up here a couple of months after spending a year in Rotorua. I work full time but I'm off 3 or 4 days a week so I'd be happy to meet up for coffee etc if you fancy it.

Saying that there's a few things on next weekend, I'll send you a PM with info and see if you fancy coming along. |
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
As you're all trying to get together, I'll move this to meet-ups. Intros tend to be shut after a week or so coz their usually just.....intros. :p

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi everyone!
My partner, Steve, and I moved to NZ 5 months ago from Manchester UK. We are settling into our jobs etc, but with a recent visit from the in-laws we are feeling a little out of sorts - a night out or a meet up would be great and a good chance to meet new people is just what we need. We are free this Friday or Sat (2nd/3rd March) evening if anyone fancies it? We are in St Heliers so here, Mission Bay or CBD would be great! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying NZ ;) Laura |
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi all,
I'm also keen to meet up - been here a year now and looking to make more friends. I'm live in Mission Bay so any meets up around here or in the CBD would be good. Ellie |

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi
Have been in Auckland for 2 weeks, living on edge of CBD, and looking work. Husbands work brought us out here, so its my job at the mo to be in charge of social life, house hunting etc. Love to meet up with other expats who've been there and done that, or those currently doing the same thing. |

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi all
How about arranging something? Not keen on the busy pub meet, as you find yourself shouting, and not really having a conversation. Any ideas welcome- bowling, BBQ in a park and everyone bring something, a wine tasting evening, etc? |
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi yes we would be keen to do a meet up sometime also yay :-)

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hello folks, how about arranging a drink somewhere central this weekend? We've been here 7 weeks now, and it would certainly be nice to meet some new people. Failing that, I'm not working yet, so would be up for a coffee/cup of tea during the week if anyone fancied it!

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Would anyone be up for a drink in town after work tomorrow night?
|
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Let us know where you are going, not certain to attend at the mo, husband threatening man flu or similar deathly illness!

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
I'm dropping my sister off at the airport and was going to go to the marina for drinks but could be in the city around that time.

Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi there
My kiwi hubby and I moved from London to Auckland late last year (via 2 years in Sydney!). We've been socialising with his old friends but I'd be keen to meet up with some other Brits too. Would love to know if there are any other meet ups planned (looks like I just missed yesterdays!) or girls nights out. I've been feeling a bit out of sorts after a few visits from UK friends, but think some wine and a good natter would sort that out :) Nicola |
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi,
A few of us will be meeting up on Thursday night in Parnell. The plan at the moment is drink / something eat then pudding at the Chocolate boutique! I am still getting to know the area. Meeting around 7.30. Let me know if anyone wants to join us :-) |
Re: 33 year old female looking for fellow brit friends in the Auckland area
Hi Juliet
I'll try to make it on Thursday if I can. Will depend on working out how to get back to the shore afterwards on public transport! Becomes a bit of a pain after rush hour  |
