Re: 10 things to do before you go to NZ
mmmm ten things to do before i go to NZ
1) Try to stop saying 'do i look like someone who gives a sh*t' when my boss at work tries to guilt trip me for leaving.
2) Tell my parents i love them, but i need to be the other side of the world to keep loving them.
3) Go back to my comp school to speak to my tutor who said i would never go far academically, 12 gcse's, 4 A'levels and a degree later 'up yours'.
4) Say good bye to all the mates im leaving behind, and dont invite the pain in the rear people who tag along on leaving do's so they can drink free booze, eat free food and stir the crap the next day.
5) Take as many photos as possible and remember all the good experiences i have had here.
6) Visit all the places i have wanted to.
7) Try not to laugh as i hand my notice in ( i failed this one)
8) Tell my next door neighbor that my flat is going to be let to a family with ASBO's imposed on them meaning they must stay within 4 miles of home.
9) Take a massive dump on the operations managers’ desk at the hospital i work in, the put a cocktail stick sized NZ flag in it.
10) Turn of the lights.
mmm sounds slightly bitter but the conditions have work have made it so much easier to leave. In all fairness things have got worse after i decided to leave. To be honest though it’s only a couple of months before i leave but it still doesn’t seem real yet. Im sure it will sink in soon.
Its amazing to think that i will be living the other side of the world, sure i moved to uni and London but home was just a train ride away .
exciting eh

Only thing I can think of at the moment is getting the house ready for sale, selling it, big party before and landing there. Oh and getting those little blue stickers that everyone's talking about. Can't wait to see what they look like!!!

Re: 10 things to do before you go to NZ
It's taken me quite a while to come up with my list, not because I've had to think for ages either, I just forgot about doing it until the thread was revived...sorry Phyl...
1. Lose at least 2 stone and buy a whole new wardrobe
2. Give my now too big clothes to my least favourite sister with a sympathetic/evil glint in my eye
3. Hand my notice in at work - my notice being of the two-fingered salute variety
4. Find someone to take the rabbit (or have rabbit pie for tea one night!)
5. Ring my favourite sister and tell her to come and choose whatever she wants from the stuff that we aren't taking with us or are going to sell off - nothing like p*ssing the rest of my siblings off before we go - will help them to miss me less...
6. Enjoy my brother's wedding in September and try not to blurt out our news as we should hopefully have our Visa's by then - wouldn't want to spoil his big day....note to self - do not get drunk and spill the beans....
7. Hopefully see my mum win her battle with cancer and come through the other side...I won't want to leave until she's got the all clear....
8. Have a huge leaving party, maybe get married and have my two youngest kids christened before we go....now that would be one hell of a party....
9. Spend as much time with my mates as possible just to stock up on the memories...and make plans for them all to come and visit us - I have three bookings already!!!
10. Spend some time reflecting on my life in the UK (and elsewhere) over the last 39 years and spend lots of time looking forward to spending the next chapter of my life in NZ with all of the adventures and experiences to be had lying ahead of me....oh and to make sure that my mate Jude is on duty on the flight over - nothing like seeing a friendly face on a long distance flight!!!
Right, off for a lie down in a dark room now...
