I agree; IMO there is quite a difference between Rednecks and Chavs. What you don't see here are big gangs of them hanging around service stations or shopping mall entrances, constantly cursing and swearing and aggressively staring at passers by, ala your average UK scroat.

Lisa, just saw your post, and I can't tell you how much I feel for you and your family. Living in H1-B visa limbo for just three years nearly did us in. I don't think I've ever felt so helpless and stranded, trying to start a life here with the constant threat of the visa disappearing and having to leave again.

I'm sorry that it's turned out this way for you, but it sounds like you all have a great attitude about it all. Good luck, and keep in touch here!

but you do here...hence the reason we have security inside and outside all the stores plus 24/7 patrolling the parking lots...gangs, chavs, rednecks they are all the same imo.

Yep, I know they are all the same really.....but I honestly have not seen big gangs of young lads hanging about smoking and effing and blinding at all the passers by as you do in every UK town centre. I know they must exist....but I honestly have not noticed it here to the same degree as the UK.

I'm not sure what Malls True Brit goes to but I have never seen what she has described before.

Now you do get "kids" running around inside some of the Malls but not in gangs that you would feel afraid of at all.

The only other solution I can come up with is I have become such a Redneck myself that I behave that way and don't realise how bad I look........

the galleria ...memorial city mall to name but two...they are lurking everywhere, the gangs patrol the malls. very intimidating for sure.

just last yr the galleria had to take on another private security firm due to the high end stores inside that mall....the gangs/rednecks were frightening people/tourists away...i will look for the link

I mainly think they are guilty of bad fashion and saying "Git 'er done". :curse: Can't say I've seen roaming groups of dangerous "rednecks" around here either.
