What about the other airlines which fly to the UK/US routes

AA, United, Air India, Air New Zealand, I think Kuwait has 5th freedom rights as well, and I'm sure there are others.

We since 1996 have always flown United, since 2000 upgraded to business class on frequent flyer miles.

United / Air Canada.

I used to do a lot of business trips to the east coast (NY / NJ) and to Canada (Toronto) as well as travel back to Europe so flying United out of SFO was an obvious choice. Did over 100K miles on them for about 8 years, but not so much recently.

Despite my earlier comments, I will go out of my way to avoid United. All airlines will give you a crap episode eventually..... some will do so always.

Sadly, no...a very old commercial, think snake charmers and ladders for passenger disembarkation.

For what its worth flew BA last year, first time in years. I was so disappointed. So my vote is for Virgin.

Most of the US airlines will have you paying for drinks, cushions, toilet paper...

United and Continental tie for the worst, IMHO

BA.

I like Virgin but they are usually more expensive than BA.

The cheapest way I find the flights is straight from BA's website. It's usually cheaper than the "cheap flight" sites.

I haven't gone in years, but if it's just me, then BA, because I could get tickets dirt cheap, but as a family, whatever had a decent deal, though I like Virgin.

BA for me, LHR to Sea-Tac direct, being 6'0" tall I appreciate the additional micron of legroom they advertise.

Flew Delta the first time I came over, they upgraded me to business class as I was willing to fly via Cincinnati rather than as booked via Atlanta, but a 5 hour stopover was too much.

Recently flew with Aer Lingus who were good, nice newer airbus with plenty of leg room.
Then even more recently flew with NWA and all i can say is never again, no leg room puke in the back of the seat, dirty tissues shoved down the sides of the seats were just disgusting. We flew one part of our vacation with Alaska Airlines who were wonderful, clean inviting and on time.

from Phoenix BA is the only airline to fly direct. I could get a connecting flight but the savings are not worth the hassle. I don't like the flight that much because its packed out all the time.

i'mback in september, i found the price drops when the schools go back. I paid $3800 for 4 seats but i'm glad i got them at the start of the year because the same 4 seats are now costing $600 extra after the fuel surcharges went up. Also i will be flying into heathrow terminal 5 for the first time which should be interesting

Hopefully the are still as generous with the booze?

Virgin every time I can BA treat us like shit every time we fly on them, Continental do not maintain their fleet safely ... (A proven fact as the only concord to crash was bought down by a bit off a Continental 767 and when they found the offending plane 6 months later the part was still missing )
AA treat people like cattle.

VA have bent over backwards to help us in every way, when I went to my dadas funeral they were the only one to give us a real discount and gave us fully open returns for no extra cost, the cabin staff also waited on our every need both ways.

Once I got status with BA and the Oneworld Alliance, I basically gave up on all the others unless in a pinch. BA is my primary and I use AA in the US. Cathay is generally easier (and nicer) than BA for my flights to Asia, but if I'm doing an 'around the world' thing I'll take BA on the Asia-Eu-US leg (I only use Cathay when doing US-Asia direct).

I used to fly Virgin but I got in an argument with a moronic flight attendant once so I switched to BA and about three years later sent Virgin a letter outlining all the flights I had on BA because of this one moron (it was over $100k, and no, I didn't pay for them). They offered me status and a free flight (coach), but I passed (they just don't have enough flights for me).

Virgin are also awesome when you've got kids flying alone...
