AFL cannot stand AFL!!!!....some days I wake up and swear I could "climb the walls" with boredom....nobody can say we have not tried....we really have....markets.....oh I would love a decent market.....we have brilliant markets at home.....I remember going up to Bury Markets with my dad for the day and buying Antler luggage....at a fantastic price and we still have them to this day......sad or what........

Hi, we are from Danebank in Denton, near Manchester and Stockport....we are heading towards Marple....most of our families live near the "moors" so we like the idea of a countryside but not to far from the City or towns......just having our home valued (again) as we briefly but our home on the market but had problems with the agent.....as soon as it is sold we will head home but need to be home by August for the start of the school year....I think our problem is that we always travelled in the U.K....we have friends and family North and South but we do love the North...here we have a huge State (W.A) but not very much to see......and what there is we have done!!! cannot wait to see York, Chester, North Wales....even Southport...all the places we took for granted.....all the northern mill towns as well.....stunning...oh there I go again......sorry......

Our house is in Saddleworth.

Marple is nice we used to go to the Brambles cafe and then to the old pictures that was one of the last places we went before we came here.

AFL. Don't mention AFL. I don't even bother buying or reading any of the local newspapers here anymore (Herald Sun, Geelong Advertiser and The Age) as the back few pages (not too mention the front page most times) are just wall to wall AFL. So miss buying the Daily Telegraph every morning and turning to the back page and having a quick read of all the football news before I went into work.

Was talking to an Italian chap a couple of hours ago. His team Juventus (one of the biggest clubs in Italy) are playing Melbourne Victory in a couple of weeks. He was saying that the Herald Sun has hardly given the match any publicity, but despite that it's nearly a sellout.

Just another example of the insularity of the newspapers here to any sport that is considered 'un-Australian'.

Sadly we have to wait 7 months because we want to take our dog, so tomorrow he has his chip and rabies vaccine and the countdown will then start. Any advice from anyone about current situations in the UK/requirements let me know!
I know exactly how you feel. I have only been here just over 2 years and its 2 years too long. Good luck to you and the time will fly by and just think of all those shops.....

Yes there are some lovely parts to the north west it gets such bad press sometimes. Uppermill is my favourite village, my ambition is to own my own cake decorating/sugarcraft shop when I go back, eventually We are just in the process of sorting out a 3-4 week holiday for end of June next year then some extended ones until daughter has finished school and then our 4 years here then I'm off HOME.

Oh I dunno, at least we have bakers shops here now, not nice ones sadly. Oh, and Supavalue, IGA and some pharmacies are open on public holidays now, which they weren't 10 years ago. Infact, we were lucky to find a petrol station open back then.

I told the vet (who was about 104 years old) and he re did the chip with a new chip. An hour later the dog had a really big lump developing where the first chip was apparently done, so i had to take him back to the vets. They think they might have hit a blood vessel and there was blood building up underneath the surface. So now the dog is wearing a pressure bandage and is on antibiotics. And the cheeky vet said I didnt have to pay for that. Generous considering it was his fault, cheeky sod.
Sue him. get in touch with the office of fair trading, you should not let him get away with that. That is just dreadful.
