Default Virtual mailbox.....recommendations?

Much as I dislike the idea, it seems I must open a virtual mailbox to forward my US mail to the UK. I had hoped to rely on someone in the US but I don't think it's going to work out as she is planning to move out of state.
Can anyone comment on how this arrangement works ? is it secure? I can't see why the govt cannot deal with and accept that we move abroad! How hard can it be to mail a W2, a bank statement etc etc. to a foreign address in this day and age!
Rant over. Advice or any ways i can get around this problem welcome.
Thank you.

Hi
We had friends who live in Florida in the winter and in Europe in the summer.
They used a mailbox service in Florida when they were away.
I presume that the service forwarded their mail to their address in Europe.

UPS stores have mailboxes which appear as normal street addresses.

UPS or Mail Boxes USA typically reasonable for receiving mail and a street address, if you Google such services there are a few firms that specialize in international forwarding., Keeping a US number , fro Skype or other servcie ( I think Google may provide) not a bad idea if you have ongoing filing requirements in USA and or credit cards etc- for example for the online MySocialSecurity account with Social Security US address and phone nuber required.
