Default Unexpected Pet Import Charges?

Hiya!

I'm moving back in October and bringing my cat with me. I've hired a company that is handling everything but they state in their contract that my fee I paid do not cover any "unexpected clearance or import charges". So I was just curious if anyone had done the same and if they ended up having to pay anything when they went to pick up their pet from the airport?

Thanks!!

Welshie

I shipped a cat and this never happened to me. I suppose this is a way of covering themselves against any fees levied or even increases.

I assume so as well, but just wanted to see if anyone had experienced it.

How long did it take for Customs to clear all of your cats paperwork? My cat is landing in Heathrow about two hours after I land in Gatwick, so I'll have to toddle over to Heathrow, hopefully won't be waiting around for hours there as well.

We brought our cat over from Canada in March this year and they used the same wording. I am sure it is just to cover themselves. We paid no extra fees at Heathrow.

I believe it said it could take between 4 - 6 hours so I was lingering at Heathrow waiting to pick her up. I phoned DEFRA after 2 hours and they told me she was ready to pick up.

Ok cool, 2 hours isn't too bad.
