Hi everyone
Been off BE for awhile to get back into real UK life but I do think of you all and wonder how eveyones doing.
After hijacking Fleas thread for a mo, thought I'd start a new one
Any news apart from Fleas great escape???
Tracey - any date for the return yet? Is it still looking like UK autumn, fingers xd you sell your place and find a lovely home in Devon
sure you will!
Hope the course is good Faye n life is too
Has Arkon FINALLY sold the farm - praise the lord!
Fantatstic news, so happy for him!
I have gained a funny thing since returning, a bit of hayfever. Never had it b4 luckily, it must be being away from all the pollen and returning with no resistance - sure it wont last though. Hope not as the cure of drinking elderflower in water which smells like cats piss doesnt appeal
So here, apart from having to 'start over' skint and having to move to a place for a while to share until I can afford my own place which is pants (I am very envious of those who can move back to their own place). Apart from that and knowing home is still temporary, all is fine n dandy and life in UK is good.
I kept having 'turns' for months, it was brilliant. From ice n frosty mornings, to freshly mowed grass in spring, to bluebells, to chatting with a bunch of people and loving the 'normality' of UK men, to Have I got News for you, the Peep Show, Radio 4 and just being with people or going to new places. I have REVELLED in the fact I can go to other places to where I live & my humour is completely normal - HA.
I do miss Oz a bit, where I lived round Byron/Bangalow as was mighty pwetty but not as much as I thought I might. Coffee, friends and odd thing like walking on the beach, cicadas, frogs but its no probs at all as I am happy to be living in UK and its not something I think about much.
One thing about returning, when things got hard here for a bit sorting myself, which they did, moving again etc, that was the only time in months I really thought of Oz which made me see how easy it can be to look to another home if the one your in isnt going really well, specially at the start, whilst settling in, if u know what I mean. Not that I regretted coming home for a second but it was interesting to observe all the same.
Ok
Well enough waffle from me...............hope everyones toptastic and to everyone unsure about the return, good luck and I hope you find if/when you return you are happy with your choice.
Take care 1 n all and have fun n games
lotsy love

Hiya Tanya
Good to hear you're back and enjoying it.....especially after one or two negative posts which have stirred things up a bit on the forum!
This time next week the shippers will be here, and hopefully none of my carefully packed boxes will collapse!
Mr Oldbag and I arrive in Manchester on June 30th, and I can't wait for my life to return to normal, because here, it's been anything but.
Good luck.....long may it continue

Great to hear your news Tanya
Did i read sometime back that you are a blacksmith? If so what a wonderful job. I would love to do it but not fit enough!
I can relate to your woes on the home front. Having to shack up with the kids till OH arrives is not ideal. We need our own space dont we? But at least we are home!!
You will sort things out Tanya. You have good life skills.
Hope you keep enjoying blighty for many more years to come!

I canee tell you how glad I am for your back again, with only hubby to get back now - more than half way sorted!
I was a blacksmith - had my own business but gave it up b4 moving to Oz - was very grimey a job to have. Still good as can beat metal to make nice things if I want. Now am cheffing - until another less demanding job pops into my bwain.
Yes, ones own space is very necessary. Still, least you can revel in the smal people and your kids until you geto your own place.
Are you planning on outta London, Essex way.
How long do you reckon until you sort visa for your man?

Hi Tanya...just wanted to pick up on this comment..it is so true and shows how our mind can play tricks on us. We automatically blame the country we are in if something goes wrong, i have done it too.
I know that when i go back to UK and something doesn't go quite right, i will probably blame the whole of UK and want to move back here lol, but that's the mind games playing tricks on us.

Excellent Tanya that you are enjoying it back home. Notice I use the word home, as this place will never be home for me. On the bright side I did indeed sell the farm but thats another story of how difficult Oz can be (six months settlement!!!!!!!!FFS) I was going to post up the story of trying to sell the place but it's best forgotten.
Well whats new here? Australia for me is still as mind boggling as ever, Got a puncture on my new electric bike last week, went into a bicycle shop that ONLY sells bikes and bits for bikes, I need a puncture repair kit........Sorry don't sell them.....WTF...Only in Oz. (that wasn't in rednecksville either, but here in dry sunny Sydney!)
It's Ok Tanya it's not really dry and sunny, I've been in my new house for 2 weeks now and it's pissxd down every single day so far. Today is the first day I've seen a blue sky.
All the best and stay in touch on BE.

Will keep my toes crossed for you Tracey. I think of you whenever I'm in Devon, round Tipton way as thats where you were hoping to head to - are you still planning on there?
Arkon - I am SOOOOOOOO happy you finally managed to escape hick hick hicksville whoop whoop.
Do you miss the alpacas??
Least you're in a more modern version of Oz!
How long u planning on staying now then, I read you had bought another place so presume you're staying on for a while yet. Hope you like the new area and have met some good people too
Here tis a sunny June day.
Since I got back, only weather I didnt like was March/April when it had been loverly then went all pissy n cold again but on the whole, the good ol climate hasnt bothered me at all and I've liked it.
Am off to Tuscany next week to slog my guts for work - 1st trip outta UK since got home, should be good!
Have a latte for me people and a yum mango

Yes I do miss the Alpaca's, every day in the morning I used to go out and check their water and all 10 would run up to greet me then stick around me all day if I was outside. Same in the evening when I game them thier feed. Very sociable animals so yes I do miss them. Do I miss anything else............................no. The city has it's own set of challenges but none like I faced on the mid north coast. Here most problems I can fix with some hefty insulation.
And yes I will be staying in Oz, not because I like it, I would return home tommorrow if not for my domestic situation.

Thanks for the update, sounds like you are just dandy! The course is going well thank you ... one year down, two more to go

I enjoy it though so it's all good.We are all booked up to come back for Blighty for a month at Xmas time, I can't wait! I just found out last night that my little sis is pregnant too which will make it doubly spesh. (Though when she has it in Feb will be a bit
cos I'll miss it). Anyway, it's brill to hear from you, so pleased you have settled back in nicely and things are going well.
Take care and pop back in every now and then and keep us updated.

Congrats on selling the farm. But please entertain us and tell us the selling up story with a 6 months settlement

I will send you some karma if you do. Not much of an offer I know but it's all I've got

Good luck in Sydney
