Default Spanish tax return after moving back to the UK

What happens about Spanish income tax tax returns after moving back to the UK
Spanish regard you as tax resident for the whole year, while HMRC regard you as tax resident when your feet touch UK soil
If for example you arrive back in UK on July 3rd, what is the situation regarding your tax return?
I have heard several different versions, such as forget about it!
What is the accurate, legal advice in this from someone who has been in this situation
