Re: Scumbags!!
Unfortunately I think scumbags are an international phenomenon. We have one living across the road from us - very nice area and usually we dont have any trouble but a lady is renting a house opposite and she has recently shacked up with a chappie who has difficulty containing his temper and his language. One of the great Aussie adjectivally challenged chappies. His range of nouns isnt that great either and let us say nobhead is very mild in comparison with what he calls his lady love. I find that arguments around here are much louder than anything I have heard in UK - some of that may be due to the shonky building but I think Aussies in general are not shy about having violent shouty matches in the street. Probably not quite as bad as PNG on govt pay day but close.

Most areas have a social breakdown, infact all areas do....in the Uk, My advice get out while you can and move to Australia, where you can escape the treadmill of british chavary. If you got heaps of money you can move to a plush area I suppose. One thing I noticed in UK when I returned after being overseas, is how selfish and insular people have become,, there is no mateship or general feeling of how are you. Look in ASDA most of the employees are overweight slobs, probably earning just under the threshold to claim every benefit going, to feed the 6 kids they have...to 6 fathers....sorry just go on this [URL="http://www.fat-pie.com"]and its UK through and through... Shame you need to post such mindless rubbish but as you see no one takes you seriously...but I guess it does something for you and trolling must be fun! Enjoy crime free, chav free utopia with your lean cuisine and mineral water!! |

What a load of Crap, What everyone in the UK is selfish and insular and everyone in Australia is totally unselfish?, give me a break. As for social breakdown, I actually live in Canada and go back to the UK every 8 weeks or so now, but it took me about 4 days of being in Australia on a holiday before I saw chavvy kids hassling everyone on a train. As for being overweight, I'd say they got a real problem in Australia, It's not surprising judging by the amount of McDonalds drive throughs there. I know a lot of people from the Uk over here in Canada who continually bash the UK but deep down they are trying to justify their decision to move out here in the first place and the enormous amount of money they spent |

Ok, I'm here again. You've probably had enough of me saying the same old thing but you guys are the only people who really understand.
Hubby and I barely talk to each other. Tonight, his few comments were about the scum that live around us. I know exactly what he means. He was walking back from Asda with our 3 year old son and he passed a family arguing, the dad calling the son a nobhead. Nice!!! That's the kind of area we're living in. I really don't want my kids growing up here. I feel like we're gonna be trapped, with house prices going down. Hubby and I both have the same feelings about these things but find it impossible to talk about it. If we had the money right now, we'd probably go back to US but we don't and I don't see us having any anytime soon. What did we do?? I feel so guilty for ruining my family's lives to drag them to this hell hole. Thanks for listening. |

Re: Scumbags!!
Brisbane is awesome, lived there for 2 years, went back to UK....
just no comparison... i started hating UK once the novelty of being back worn off. Ashame really the country has a lot to offer if your loaded, family life turned crap, due to poor weather, sky tv, and working away... |

Re: Scumbags!!
work, was a motive,
strange tho, I hold Brisbane closer to my heart, and prefer it to Perth, but I find Perth and WA just as good. Brisbane is my mistress. |

Everyone said the same thing, "Twenty years ago, you wouldn't want to have lived here but now it's an up and coming area" I really don't see it "up and coming" though and I don't want to wait around to find out.

Excuse me, I used to work for ASDA. They are a damn good employer. I wasn't an overweight slob, infact when I worked there I lost a lot of weight because of the sheer amount of exercise I was getting through working there. (working in the produce section does that to you.) I put in a lot of hours, sometimes between 45 - 50 hours a week, I didn't claim any benefits. I was training to become a manager there (but then life brought me to the US, so :)) Don't judge people that have no choice but to work in places like ASDA. At least they are working and not scrounging off the dole. If Walmart was as good as ASDA, I would work for them again in a heartbeat. |
