Ok, I'm here again. You've probably had enough of me saying the same old thing but you guys are the only people who really understand.
Hubby and I barely talk to each other. Tonight, his few comments were about the scum that live around us. I know exactly what he means. He was walking back from Asda with our 3 year old son and he passed a family arguing, the dad calling the son a nobhead. Nice!!! That's the kind of area we're living in. I really don't want my kids growing up here. I feel like we're gonna be trapped, with house prices going down. Hubby and I both have the same feelings about these things but find it impossible to talk about it. If we had the money right now, we'd probably go back to US but we don't and I don't see us having any anytime soon. What did we do?? I feel so guilty for ruining my family's lives to drag them to this hell hole.
Thanks for listening.

We're just outside Preston and came from just outside Cleveland. When we bought the house, we heard bad things about the area so I called the police, council, knocked on doors to find out as much as I could. Everyone said the same thing, "Twenty years ago, you wouldn't want to have lived here but now it's an up and coming area" I really don't see it "up and coming" though and I don't want to wait around to find out.

Up and coming would suggest it's got something to come up from and still got a way to go.

I have lived in 5 different area in Uk and owned 5 houses....
Most areas have a social breakdown, infact all areas do....in the Uk,
My advice get out while you can and move to Australia, where you can escape the treadmill of british chavary.
If you got heaps of money you can move to a plush area I suppose.
One thing I noticed in UK when I returned after being overseas, is how selfish and insular people have become,, there is no mateship or general feeling of how are you.
Look in ASDA most of the employees are overweight slobs, probably earning just under the threshold to claim every benefit going, to feed the 6 kids they have...to 6 fathers....sorry just go on this [URL="http://www.fat-pie.com"]and its UK through and through...

We are renting in an OK area of outer Brisbane and there are certainly quite a few 'scumbags' live round here.
As for most of ASDA staff being overwight thats
seeing as Australia has one of the biggest obesity problems in the 'modern world'.
Franki if I could turn back the clock 6 months and know what I know now I most definately would not have come here to live but would have moved to another area in the UK, now its gonna take another 3 and half years to get back

There is no true 'paradise', there are low lifes in every town in every country.
I have seen some slobby people here with their numerous kids by numerous fathers, however just because they choose to live their lives like that it doesnt always mean they are terrible persons. Its unfair to knock people because of their weight or lifestyle choices, its a free world, and unless they are making your life personally a misery you cant blame them.
I live on a new estate here, where the houses are fairly pricey. I moved here from Rockingham which has a lrage number of the type of people you describe. And yet a few months after moving here some d*ckheads came hooning around in their souped up V8 and ripped up all the parkland here. Yesterday in my local mall I saw a little boy crying in his stroller whilst his dad shouted and swore at him VERY loudly. As I drive down a local road I see a queue of aboriginal girls aged about 16 with kids in strollers waiting to catch the bus after visiting whomever in the prison. And I dont live in a rough area. there are far far worse places here!!!
The problem is the more negative you are about where you live the more you will notice the negative society around you. You have to learn to accept you cant find anywhere in this world where there is not a sh*tty group of people making it bad for all the good ones.
Be positive and try to think about how you can make your life more better without just seeing all the negative things. Can you not rent your house out and move somewhere else?

Other halfs brother and his family are in the process of selling up and moving to Aus and we are going back, they have been out for visits twice.
We generalize about things over here because when we tell them the truth and how the experience has been for us, our comments fall on deaf ears, so I suppose people have to come to their own decisions even though it can be a costly mistake.
