Default Returning home and to school after 15 months

Hi to everyone who has recently returned. I hope you're enjoying!

I'm looking for a little advice.

I've been living in the UK for most of my adult life by choice - I'm 34. So for a year before University and then for the past 7 years minus the past 15 months. A total of 8 years and I was born in the UK so have a British passport.

I decided last year to come and visit my family abroad whom I hadn't seen in 6 years, do some writing and to evaluate where I was headed. My boyfriend decided to get a year long working holiday Visa and join me. When I was ready to go back he wasn't as his family was coming to visit us.

His Visa is just about up so we will return.

During my soul searching I decided I really wanted to go back to school and train. I decided on a course and set about applying.

However, I'll have been away for 15 months.

Most of my post still goes to the residence we have in the UK - which belongs to my boyfriend's family. I have a UK drivers license that I swapped out in case I needed to drive while away which I presume I can get back.

I'm concerned that I'll be forced to pay overseas fees despite that my plans have always been to return.

Any ideas? And incidentally, how does the school system/government go about checking my residency history over the past 3 years? I've read in places that it's not something that needs to be mentioned but I get a different feel and would be concerned about perjury.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!
