Taken from ABC news website:

Only five Northeastern states -- Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island -- continue to ban them entirely, though other areas have strong state regulations or regional bans.

I'm sad for ya. Do you have a fireplace?

We always buy extra sparklers either before or just after the 4th of July

Huge fireworks display in Wellington tonight. Didn't go as daughter needs her sleep and the fireworks didn't start until about 9.30... it being summertime and all. In our suburb the majority of homeowners are expats! So there were a lot of small fireworks going off. They're only on sale here for a few days before the big day. Quite odd that it's celebrated in NZ at all, really...

I hope everyone has had a safe and fun time! Sorry, I keep forgetting I'm in the future. I hope everyone will have a safe and fun time.

where do you get sparklers - ive not seen anything like fireworks or sparklers for sale here (not that ive been looking for them) and someone asked me the other day where they could buy some? Would one of the superstores like Walmart have them or would it need to be a more specialist shop? (assuming they are not banned in Ohio).

Seasonal goods. Other than the odd roadside vendor near an interstate, you'll only see them for sale shortly before the 4th of July. A brief summary of Ohio fireworks laws courtesy of fireworks.com: link.

Ohio is weird. It's illegal to buy fireworks and set them off in Ohio, but you can buy fireworks in Ohio, you're just supposed to set them off in a different state and have to agree to do so. Same is true in Michigan.

Generally as long as you keep things small and not too crazy you shouldn't have a problem.
