remember, remember, the 5th of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

We'll be having our annual get together w/yummy food, even better dessert and sparklers for the kids. Not quite the festivities everyone back home will be having, but just as fun :) Are you doing anything tomorrow?

Pity there aren't more people willing to blow up Parliament.

Fireworks are illegal in some areas...best to check before you set any off or light any bonfires. More here:

Aye, illegal to buy them in Mass...doesn't seem much of a law about firing them off though...

but it is in Maine and they do have staties that follow you over state lines when your in maine, watching you buy them in NH, and it's a big fine :D

Anyway, we've got nothing planned...might fire off a few sparklers if I can find them, we'll see...

I'll be setting light to damn big bonfire down at the far end of the rear garden on a good 'excuse' night to clear its spot.... :D

The fire will also be great for cooking burgers and bangers to the display of fireworks all around, as last year was. Hope the weather remains mild ...

Guy Fawkes was, without doubt, the best intentioned man to enter parliament.

"Remember, remember, the fifth of November, gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent
to blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below,
Poor old England to overthrow:
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, make the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip hoorah!
A penny loaf to feed the Pope. A farthing o' cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down. A ****** of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar.
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head.
Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead.
Hip hip hoorah! Hip hip hoorah!""
